The crash happened on Friday, July 26 at about 2:30 p.m. in East Hills, Nassau County Police said.

According to detectives, a 36-year-old man, while traveling eastbound on the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway and operating a 2005 Mack truck pulling a 2004 Spectra Marine semi-trailer, was involved in a collision with a 2017 Audi Q7 traveling northbound on Roslyn Road, said police.

As a result of the collision, the woman, now identified as 77-year-old Carol Samide of East Hills., suffered multiple trauma injuries, was transported to an area hospital and was pronounced deceased by a staff physician at 3:52 p.m.

Both vehicles were impounded for brake and safety checks.

The Mack truck driver suffered a laceration to his head and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
